Tom Sewell: Solstice Circle Workshop at Newquay Orchard

Inspired by the prehistoric stone and timber circles of the atlantic archipelago and their history of communal construction this circle workshop will mark the summer solstice weekend by collectively building a temporary sculptural circle in the playing place at Newquay Orchard using materials gathered from the site.

After marking out the circle on the ground we will spend an hour collecting materials from the local environment and then use them to build sculptural structures to define the circle, being as creative and wild as we can, inspired by the environment and materials we have found.

Then, in gratitude for the place and the time we’ve spent together making the work we will return the materials to the places where they came from, leaving us with a memory of our time together.

Circle Workshop:
Saturday 22 June, 10am - 12pm
FREE. Open to all ages and abilities.
All materials will be provided.
